What
is Real Quality Time?
Have you ever noticed that you can spend lots of time together
as a couple, yet not 'connect' in any sort of meaningful way?
Some people experience this as feeling 'distant'. Sometimes it's
hard to know how to connect as a couple. You already know each other
so well - what can you ask that you don't already know? How can
you start those deep conversations that you used to have?
Real Quality Time is a
series of workbooks, which include a large variety of activities
designed to get you talking about the things that will help you
to reconnect. Not only are the workbooks fun to do, they're also
based on scientific research, and are designed to teach you some
key relationship skills along the way. So you won't be wasting your
time!
Why do we need to learn skills?
You can be the most loving and commited person in the world, but
unless your behaviour is interpreted by your partner as being loving
and commited, your relationship will suffer. Remember it's your
behaviour that connects you as a couple. Skills help you to behave
in a way that reflects love, commitment, and teamship.
Every couple already has a set of skills that they use in their
relationship. Most of them may work quite well, and help you to
behave in a way that assists your relationship. Others don't work
so well, and cause conflict and distancing.
What Skills should we learn?
The ones that work! If you find something that you do as a couple
that works, stick with it. However, there are also some fundamental
skills that are present in all healthy relationships. These skills
have been identified scientifically by observing thousands of couples
in action.
Real Quality Time teaches these skills in a series that
was designed to be completed at home, in your own time. It will
teach you the skills that really work, and show you how to apply
them in your own life. |
